Data Distribution Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-19

People occasionally ask us whether they can quote a CryptoQuant chart in an article, paste a screenshot into a newsletter, or pipe our API into a product. This page answers those questions in plain language.

It is written for journalists and media, academic and independent researchers, content creators and community analysts, and companies evaluating CryptoQuant data for internal or commercial use. It restates what our Terms of Service already say; it does not create new rights or obligations.

What you can do

Under our Terms of Service (§4.1), site data, charts and analytics are licensed to you for internal, non-commercial use under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International licence (CC BY-NC 4.0). In practice this means you may:

  • Cite and share individual charts and analytics publicly — in articles, research notes, social posts, videos or presentations — for non-commercial purposes, as long as you credit CryptoQuant.
  • Use screenshots of charts taken on cryptoquant.com with the CryptoQuant watermark left intact.
  • Quote figures and conclusions from CryptoQuant research, Quicktake posts and Verified Author analysis, with the author credited alongside CryptoQuant.
  • Use the API inside your own applications for internal, non-commercial purposes (§4.2).

How to credit us

  • Charts and data: "Source: CryptoQuant" with a link to cryptoquant.com or to the chart page.
  • Quicktake or Verified Author posts: "Source: CryptoQuant · <author name>" with a link to the post.
  • Screenshots: keep the CryptoQuant watermark and the chart title visible; do not crop or overlay them.

Example: Source: CryptoQuant (cryptoquant.com)

We may credit you back

If you cite CryptoQuant data, charts or analytics in a public report, article, research note or other published material, CryptoQuant may reference that use — including your organisation’s name and logo and a link to the publication — in our “Cited by”, press and distribution sections, such as the home press list and the Media Citations page, to show where CryptoQuant data has been used.

We only reference publicly available publications, and names and logos are used nominatively to identify the citing publication, not to imply endorsement or partnership.

If you would rather not be listed, email our media contact and we will remove the reference.

What you cannot do without written permission

Everything not expressly granted stays with CryptoQuant and its licensors (§5). Unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, you may not:

  • Resell CryptoQuant data, charts or analytics, whether modified or not (§6.4).
  • Redistribute raw data or API endpoints to third parties — or to other teams and departments inside your own company (§6).
  • Bulk-export, scrape or otherwise collect data with bots, scripts or automated tools (§6.1).
  • Build a commercial product, service, fund or asset-management strategy on CryptoQuant data (§6).
  • Remove, crop or hide the attribution or watermark from a chart.
  • Modify data or charts and present the result as CryptoQuant’s own.
  • Use a retail plan (Basic, Advanced, Professional, Premium) for corporate, institutional or enterprise usage (§6.5).

Media and journalists

Quoting a chart with attribution needs no approval. For a data pull, a custom chart or a comment from the research desk, use the media request page and tell us the topic and your deadline.

Commercial use and redistribution licences

Commercial products, redistribution inside a company, fund or trading use and any other use outside CC BY-NC 4.0 require a separate agreement. Talk to our sales team and we will scope the right licence.
