XRP Open Interest Jumps 19% as Bearish Derivatives Pressure Clashes With Whale Withdrawals

XRP open interest on Binance and Bybit rose a combined 19.1% between October 30 and November 4, even as perpetual and spot trading flows remained negative. Binance open interest climbed from 205 million to 247.4 million, up 20.7%, while Bybit increased from 261 million to 307.8 million, up 17.9%. Together, the two readings grew from 466 million to 555.2 million—a gain of 89.2 million. The build-up coincided with further deterioration in cumulative volume delta (CVD). Between November 1 and 4, Binance perpetual CVD fell from -$1.12 billion to -$1.16 billion, an additional $40 million in net aggressive selling. Bybit perpetual CVD slipped from -29 million to -34 million, while estimated spot CVD across centralized exchanges declined from -$2.61 billion to -$2.65 billion. Whale netflow readings added a separate contrast. Binance recorded roughly 50 million XRP in whale net outflows on November 1. On November 3, readings showed 20 million XRP leaving Binance, 23 million leaving Gate and 11 million leaving Upbit—a combined 54 million XRP that day. XRP traded near $1.28 by November 4, rebounding from a late-October dip toward $1.21. Rising open interest alongside declining CVD suggests bearish positioning may be expanding. Meanwhile, whale withdrawals may reduce immediately available exchange supply and signal potential accumulation. This contrast highlights a growing disconnect between leveraged trading activity and large-wallet exchange flows.
