Binance BTC Funding Rate Hits 2-Month High
Bitcoin futures funding rates on Binance have recorded a notable increase, reaching their highest levels in more than two months. This indicates a rise in the cost of holding long positions compared to short positions, amid continued volatility in the cryptocurrency market. The data shows that the funding rate reached 0.01, while its 30-day moving average (SMA 30) stood at approximately 0.004557, reflecting a significant increase in the current reading compared to its average over the past month. Meanwhile, Bitcoin was trading at around $77,000. The funding rate remaining in positive territory indicates that traders holding long positions are paying funding fees to those holding short positions, reflecting a stronger bias toward bullish bets in the futures market. Furthermore, the indicator reaching its highest level in more than two months suggests increased demand for long positions compared to the previous period. However, a rising funding rate does not necessarily signal that the upward trend will continue. An increasing concentration of traders in long positions could expose the market to a higher risk of liquidations if Bitcoin comes under sudden downward pressure.
