Visa’s Stablecoin Settlement Volume Jumps 10-Fold as Corporate Adoption Accelerates Despite Shrinking Supply

Stablecoins are moving beyond crypto trading and DeFi into global payments. On October 27, Visa reported an annualized stablecoin settlement rate exceeding $25 billion, ten times the year-earlier level. This is a current run rate, not actual 12-month volume or consumer spending. Visa is also enabling USDC pre-funding for cross-border transfers, helping businesses manage liquidity. The global stablecoin market stood at about $297.9 billion on October 29, down 2% over 30 days. Yet Allium reported $482 billion in stablecoin payments in the first nine months of 2026, up 45% year over year. More economic activity can occur without a matching rise in token supply. Mastercard, Circle and JPMorgan are incorporating blockchain payments into existing financial systems. In Japan, JPYC is expanding wallet access, links to bank accounts and corporate payment tools. “Stablecoins are shifting from assets people hold to infrastructure businesses use,” says Fumihiro Arasawa, CEO of xWIN. “For JPYC, the challenge is building a practical payment ecosystem, not simply increasing issuance.” What matters next is actual payment volume, repeat usage, liquidity, reliable redemption and regulatory compliance—not market capitalization alone.
