Gate.com A New Liquidity Gateway to TradeFi
Gate.com’s BTC OI data clearly reveals the structural transformation the platform has undergone in recent years. Despite the price pullback in 2026, OI remaining at multibillion dollar levels shows that activity in Gate’s derivatives market is not merely temporary activity driven by rising prices. The divergence between spot and futures volumes is one of the first things that stands out. The chart shows that futures volume expanded much faster than the spot market, particularly in 2025 and 2026. This indicates that a significant part of the growth in the Gate ecosystem is coming from leveraged and derivative products. This development is important for Gate’s TradeFi strategy. The exchange’s current structure is no longer limited to a platform where only BTC and other crypto assets are bought and sold. With products such as stock perpetuals, RWA perpetuals, gStocks, equities, ETFs and CFDs, which bring traditional financial assets onto crypto infrastructure, Gate is increasingly narrowing the boundary between the two markets. The 308% month over month increase in Gate’s stock perpetual trading volume in August, alongside its 49.6% share of RWA perpetual open interest, supports this transformation. Gate’s perpetual futures volume grew by more than 468% year over year in 2025, recording the fastest increase among the exchanges tracked. This raises the question of whether trading habits in traditional financial markets are increasingly moving to the 24/7 derivatives infrastructure of crypto exchanges. Considering Gate’s recent product expansion, particularly the growth of stock and RWA perpetuals, Gate.com is becoming one of the key platforms for observing this transformation. Additionally, the fact that OI did not collapse entirely after its 2025 peak, even as BTC prices fell, opens up discussion about whether derivatives positions on Gate are becoming a more lasting part of the market.
