Binance sees record Outflows since 2023 amid Bitcoin FOMO
Bitcoin has entered a bullish dynamic that's different from previous rebounds. Since it's high in July, BTC has delivered a performance of roughly 45%. This rally notably broke through an important structural point, with the price closing above the May high of $82 000 for several consecutive days. Throughout this rally, accumulation appears to be continuing, and this is particularly visible through BTC flows on exchanges. On Binance, which holds around 30% of the BTC available across platforms accessible to all types of investors, outflows have been dominant recently, with a weekly average netflow of -2 000 BTC. On top of that, the platform just recorded its biggest net outflow day since 2023, with more than 13 800 BTC leaving the platform in a single day, a 3-year record. Over the span of 4 days, Binance's BTC reserves dropped from 705 000 BTC to 685 000 BTC. When outflows become dominant, it indicates that some investors are choosing to hold their BTC themselves. This is behavior often associated with long-term holding, which is a positive sign. Mechanically, the decrease in BTC on exchanges reduces potential selling pressure. Such a sudden development suggests a wave of FOMO among latecomer investors, particularly those who were expecting Bitcoin to drop further, as it did during previous bear markets. It wouldn't be surprising to see these kinds of events repeat as Bitcoin continues its progression.
