Bitcoin Rebounds to $81,000, but Rising Binance Reserves Signal Caution

Bitcoin has rebounded to around $81,000, but on-chain data suggests caution. I monitor Coinbase for clues about U.S. demand and Binance for global crypto flows. Binance accounted for 38.3% of spot volume among the top 10 centralized exchanges in December 2025, according to CoinGecko, making it an important venue to watch. CryptoQuant's charts show Binance's Bitcoin reserves rising to approximately 702,900 BTC, the highest level in the displayed 2026 period. This increases the supply potentially available for sale, although deposits do not prove selling. Net inflows of several thousand BTC have appeared since late August. The latest reading shows roughly 439 BTC entering on a net basis, indicating that supply continues to arrive during the rebound. Meanwhile, the Exchange Whale Ratio stands near 0.43, below earlier peaks. It does not support claims of an exceptional whale-led sell-off. The concern is accumulating exchange supply. A sustained recovery requires buyers to absorb it. Until stronger spot demand is confirmed, the price rebound alone is insufficient evidence of a lasting improvement.
