XRP Whale-Retail Spread on Binance Reaches 57.7%, Opening 20.5-Point Gap Over All CEXs
XRP’s whale-versus-retail activity is showing a notable divergence across exchanges, with Binance recording a significantly higher spread than the broader centralized-exchange market. As of August 7, the XRP Whale vs Retail Spread 7-day moving average on Binance stood at 57.7%, compared with just 37.2% across all centralized exchanges (All CEX). That creates a substantial 20.5 percentage-point gap, with Binance’s reading roughly 55% higher than the aggregated market level. The divergence is particularly notable because the broader All CEX metric has fallen sharply from levels near 60% during July to 37.2%, while Binance has remained comparatively elevated at 57.7%. This suggests that the balance of whale versus retail activity on Binance is currently developing differently from the wider exchange market. The separation is occurring while XRP trades near $1.03, close to the lower end of the price range visible since the beginning of 2026. Despite continued price weakness, the whale-retail spread on Binance has not declined to the same extent as the aggregated All CEX measure. The use of a 7-day moving average also makes the divergence more meaningful than a single-day spike, as it reduces short-term noise and highlights a more sustained change in market structure. Importantly, the Whale vs Retail Spread should not by itself be interpreted as direct evidence of whale accumulation or buying. Rather, it highlights a growing difference in the relative activity of large and retail participants across trading venues.
