The Quiet Rotation — Stock & Metal Exposure Goes Crypto-Native
Gate’s data points to a structural shift in how crypto-native users access traditional markets: Futures still anchor the book at ~80%, and spot has compressed from ~35% in early 2025 to low double digits. But the green slice, TradFi, emerged from effectively zero and is now a visible, widening band through 2026. Users are beginning to treat the exchange as a multi-asset venue rather than exclusively as a place to trade cryptocurrencies. The weekly data reinforces this trend. TradFi activity has experienced several sharp expansion phases, followed by consolidation at levels materially above its initial baseline. This suggests that demand is not limited to a single launch-driven event. Users are repeatedly returning to these markets when equities, commodities or macroeconomic narratives offer stronger opportunities than crypto. The composition of volume is particularly revealing. Metals currently generate the majority of Gate’s TradFi activity, with gold- and silver-related instruments such as XAU, XAG and XAUT leading participation. This reflects demand for defensive assets and macro hedges during periods of crypto uncertainty. Oil remains comparatively small, while equities represent a lower but strategically important share. Within equities, trading activity is distributed across technology, artificial intelligence, crypto-linked and high-beta names, including Nvidia, Tesla, Circle, Coinbase-related exposure and other major growth companies. Volume is still event-sensitive, but the persistence of activity across multiple tickers indicates that crypto users increasingly want stock exposure without moving capital back into a conventional brokerage account. By integrating real U.S. stocks and ETFs, fractional trading and USDT-based access, Gate can convert an emerging behavioural trend into a broader product ecosystem. Crypto-native investors are not abandoning risk, but expanding the markets through which they express it.
