XRP’s average funding rate on Binance records its highest level since early February
Funding data for XRP on Binance indicates a significant shift in trader behavior within the derivatives market. The 30-day simple moving average (SMA 30) of funding rates has risen sharply, reaching its highest level since early February at 0.0002, reflecting a change in market participants' risk appetite. In previous months, funding rates remained in negative territory for an extended period, reaching a low of -0.0007, which indicated a dominance of short positions and bearish expectations. However, the recent move into positive territory, supported by the rise in the 30-day SMA, suggests an increase in long positions, reflecting improved investor confidence in the uptrend. This rise in the 30-day SMA is not merely a short-term movement, but rather a gradual shift in the overall trend, as this average is used to filter out daily noise and identify more stable trends. Reaching its highest level since early February suggests that the current upward momentum is not fleeting, but could mark the beginning of a new accumulation phase or the continuation of the uptrend. From a price perspective, XRP is moving within a relatively stable range. However, the divergence between funding rates and price could be an early indicator of an upcoming move. Changes in the derivatives market typically precede actual price movements, making this indicator an important forecasting tool. Nevertheless, caution is advised; excessively high funding rates could lead to overbought conditions, increasing the likelihood of sudden corrections. Therefore, balancing upward momentum with proper risk management remains crucial at this stage.
