Ethereum Leverage Ratio on Binance Hits 5-Month High
The Estimated Leverage Ratio for Ethereum on Binance has recorded a notable increase, reaching its highest level in five months. This indicates a rise in the use of leverage in the derivatives market relative to the ETH reserves held on the exchange. Data shows that the ratio reached approximately 0.8162, its highest level in about five months, following a period of lower readings and a clear upward trend in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Ethereum was trading at approximately $2,272. A rising leverage ratio reflects an increase in the volume of open futures positions relative to the ETH reserves held on the exchange, suggesting greater reliance on borrowed funds and leveraged trading. Furthermore, reaching these levels points to increased risk exposure within the derivatives market. However, the ratio does not indicate whether these open positions are long (bullish) or short (bearish). Therefore, its increase should not be interpreted as a direct bullish signal. In fact, higher leverage can make the market more sensitive to sudden price movements and increase the risk of widespread liquidations if prices move against traders' positions.
