Ethereum Leverage on Binance Hits All-Time High

Recent on-chain data from the Binance exchange, one of the world’s largest derivatives marketplaces, is flashing a major warning signal for the Ethereum market. The Estimated Leverage Ratio on Binance has surged to an all-time high of 0.57. This metric indicates that traders on the exchange are operating with an unprecedented level of risk, and the market is saturated with leveraged positions. This situation has effectively turned the market into a “powder keg”—making it highly fragile and susceptible to sudden, violent price swings. A relatively small price movement could trigger a domino effect of cascading liquidations on Binance, causing an accelerated price move known as a long or short squeeze. Historically, such peaks in leverage are unsustainable and are often resolved by a sharp, volatile “shakeout” event that purges excess leverage from the system. While this metric alone doesn’t predict the direction of the next move (up or down), it strongly signals that the probability of extreme volatility, originating from Binance, is at its peak. Traders should exercise extreme caution, as the risk of a major deleveraging event is now at a historic high.
