The U.S. Senate failed to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act after a cloture vote fell short of the 60 votes required to move forw

The bill aims to create a federal regulatory framework for digital assets by dividing oversight between the SEC and CFTC. It had already passed the House, but this was its first major test in the Senate. Democrats withheld support, arguing that the final draft did not go far enough in addressing potential conflicts of interest involving President Trump, his family, and crypto-related businesses. Other unresolved issues included state enforcement powers and whether crypto exchanges should be allowed to offer yield on stablecoin balances. The bill is not dead, and another procedural vote remains possible, although no new date has been scheduled. Bitcoin fell toward $76,000 as the vote failed, adding to market weakness ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting.
