Bitcoin Above-10K BTC Accumulation Nearly Doubles March Peak Ahead of U.S. CPI and PPI

Bitcoin’s largest balance cohort is showing a sharp shift toward accumulation just days before this week’s key U.S. inflation releases. 60-day accumulation vs. distribution by cohort data shows that addresses holding more than 10,000 BTC recorded net accumulation of 46,420 BTC on August 9, the highest level since March 15. More notably, the latest reading is nearly double the 23,238 BTC accumulation peak recorded in mid-March, pointing to a significant acceleration in activity among the largest balance group. At the opposite end of the market, addresses holding 0.1–1 BTC recorded approximately 9,700 BTC of net distribution. The same cohort had accumulated roughly 11,600 BTC on July 5, representing a swing of more than 21,000 BTC from accumulation to distribution within about a month. The divergence is notable because it shows two very different positioning trends developing simultaneously: the largest BTC balance cohort is increasing exposure while smaller holders are reducing it. The timing adds another layer to the setup. The divergence is emerging immediately ahead of this week’s U.S. CPI and PPI releases, two macroeconomic events capable of influencing expectations around inflation, monetary policy and broader risk appetite. While cohort data alone cannot predict Bitcoin’s next price move, the scale of accumulation above 10,000 BTC — now at its strongest level in nearly five months — makes the current divergence an important market structure signal to watch around the upcoming macro catalysts.
