XRP Futures Market Shrinks From $1.14B in May to $897M as Binance Gains Relative Share
XRP Futures Volume Falls to May Lows as Binance Nearly Matches All Other Exchanges Combined XRP derivatives activity has contracted sharply, with the seven-day average futures volume returning to its lowest level since May. On August 3, Binance recorded approximately $437 million in XRP futures volume, while all other centralized exchanges combined registered around $460 million. This means Binance’s volume was equivalent to roughly 95% of the activity recorded across the rest of the market, accounting for nearly 48.7% of the combined $897 million total. The comparison with May 1 highlights a significant shift in the distribution of XRP futures activity. Binance volume stood at $409 million at the time, compared with $733 million across other exchanges. Since then, Binance activity has increased by approximately 6.8%, while volume outside Binance has fallen by around 37%. Overall combined volume declined by roughly 21.5%, from $1.14 billion to $897 million. Liquidation data adds another important layer to the market structure. Since February, XRP liquidations have been consistently dominated by long-position liquidations, while forced closures of short positions have remained noticeably smaller. This suggests that leveraged buyers have absorbed most of the pressure during XRP’s downward price movements. Together, the data shows a less active XRP futures market with trading volume increasingly concentrated on Binance, while long-side leverage continues to face greater liquidation pressure. Lower activity does not determine XRP’s next direction, but it may leave the derivatives market more sensitive to any significant return of leveraged capital.
