AAVE's Biggest Selling Venue Is Still Loaded: Binance Controls 71.7% of Exchange Supply.
Binance currently holds 1.723M AAVE in its reserve, representing 71.7% of the total AAVE sitting across all tracked exchanges (2.402M). That single-venue concentration matters because when tokens move to Binance specifically, they are moving to the most liquid venue for this asset, where selling pressure can be absorbed, and executed, most efficiently. The divergence playing out since mid-February is striking. When AAVE was trading near $130, Binance held approximately 1.576M tokens. Today, with the price near $91.3, reserves sit at 1.723M, a +9.3% increase in supply sent to the exchange while price has fallen –29.8%. Accumulation on-chain would look like the opposite of this. What we are observing is consistent distribution behavior. The critical episode came between April 15–17. Binance Reserves climbed from 1.634M to 1.660M as price briefly pushed toward $120, a pre-event accumulation of sell-side positioning. The rsETH/KelpDAO incident then acted as a catalyst: within days, reserves surged from 1.660M to 1.770M as price collapsed from $120 toward the $85 range. The circled point on the chart marks exactly where conviction flipped and the flow accelerated. Exchange reserves, especially at Binance’s scale, act as a real-time proxy for intent. Spikes in inflows, particularly on lower timeframes (hourly/block-level), often precede volatility expansions. [What to Watch] Monitor short-term inflow bursts into exchanges. A slowdown or reversal would suggest that selling pressure is being absorbed, a necessary condition for stabilization.
