Exchange Reserve USD Drops to $31.8B, the Lowest Level on Record

Ethereum's exchange reserve USD across all exchanges has fallen to approximately $31.8 billion, the lowest reading in the chart's history dating back to mid-2021. That decline reflects two things happening at the same time: price is down, and the USD value of ETH sitting on exchanges has collapsed even further. At the 2021 peak, exchange reserve USD reached roughly $140 billion. Since then, the value has declined by nearly 77% while price has fallen by approximately 50% from its highs. The reserve is falling faster than price. That matters. In simple terms, the ETH available to sell on exchanges is shrinking at a pace that outpaces the price decline itself. That points to outflows, not just price compression. What stands out in the current data is the acceleration. The decline in reserve USD has steepened noticeably since late 2025, suggesting the pace of ETH leaving exchanges has picked up rather than slowed down. The risk worth noting is on the demand side. Low supply on exchanges is a constructive setup, but price has remained near $2,100 despite the reserve hitting record lows. That means buyers haven't stepped in yet. For now, the supply structure looks increasingly tight. Whether that translates into price movement depends on what comes in on the other side. This reflects my own views. Not financial advice.
