Whale activities suggest BTC may face downward pressure with potential for heightened volatility

A significant trend reversal is emerging from the divergence between on-chain and exchange data. 1️⃣ Slowdown in On-chain Momentum According to the "Whale 30-day % change," whales underwent a period of aggressive accumulation in early 2026, which effectively supported prices at the time. However, as of mid-March, this indicator has turned negative, signaling that the accumulation momentum from large on-chain addresses has exhausted, with some even shifting toward minor distribution. 2️⃣ Rising Dominance in Exchange Activity Simultaneously, the "Exchange Whale Ratio" has been steadily climbing since the start of this year, with the 30-day SMA now reaching a high near 0.6. This indicates a significant increase in the proportion of the top 10 inflows relative to total exchange inflows. Historically, when this ratio remains elevated, it often precedes increased market volatility and selling pressure. 💡 Summary: A clear divergence has formed: on-chain buying has ceased while large-scale inflows to exchanges are rising. Although the price continues to oscillate around $67K, the data suggests the market is entering another phase of hand-overs (re-distribution). Furthermore, the stablecoin ratio remains at a low level, reflecting a slowdown in sidelined capital flowing into the market. Without fresh liquidity, any attempt by whales to realize gains from their previous on-chain accumulation must rely on existing liquidity, making the price highly sensitive to selling pressure.
