Solana Price Outlook: Whale Accumulation vs Futures Selling Pressure

The 90-day Futures Taker CVD shows a clear transition from aggressive sell-side dominance to intermittent buy-driven phases throughout 2024 and early 2025. However, in 2026, the prevailing regime suggests that momentum traders have begun distributing into strength rather than initiating fresh directional longs. This aligns with late-cycle behaviour, where leverage-led upside becomes increasingly fragile. Looking at the spot average order size, there is a distinct re-emergence of whale participation at lower price levels. After a prolonged decline in order size during the drawdown from the late-2025 highs, we now see clusters of large orders forming near the recent base. This suggests that larger players are selectively accumulating into weakness rather than chasing the price higher. The divergence between futures and spot price action is key: futures markets are showing signs of exhaustion and distribution, while spot markets indicate early-stage accumulation. Structurally, this creates a setup where downside may be limited in the medium term, but upside still requires confirmation via sustained spot-led demand. While price action still treats Solana like an altcoin, the ecosystem’s ongoing recovery, rising developer activity, improvements in network stability, and renewed DeFi and consumer application traction have helped restore long-term confidence.
