XRP Open Interest Flushes to Lows Not Seen Since Nov 2024

The Open Interest (OI) for XRP on Binance has dropped significantly, hitting $405.9 Million. This marks the lowest level of open leverage in the market since November 2024. Analysis: A plunge in Open Interest to multi-month lows is a classic signal of a market reset. It indicates that a massive amount of leverage has been flushed out of the system, likely due to a cascade of long liquidations or traders closing positions to avoid risk during the recent price drop. When OI is this low, the market becomes less susceptible to volatility driven by “squeezes” (long or short squeezes). The speculative froth has evaporated. Conclusion: This “clean slate” in the derivatives market is often a prerequisite for a sustainable trend reversal. With the heavy leverage removed, selling pressure from forced liquidations diminishes. If spot demand (as hinted by high on-chain velocity) steps in, the price can recover more organically without the weight of over-leveraged long positions dragging it down.
