A Strong Accumulation Signal For LINK — Supply Squeeze in Motion?
More than 15 million LINK have been withdrawn from exchanges in less than 30 days. Since the start of the year, Chainlink’s exchange reserves have fallen from >180M LINK to ~146M, a reduction of ~34M LINK. Crucially, the share of supply held on exchanges has slid from ≈18% to ≈15% of total supply. From an on-chain economic perspective, this trend signals increasing supply illiquidity: a portion of tokens moving off exchanges, likely toward staking, long-term holding, or DeFi integrations. Historically, such structural outflows tend to reduce immediate sell pressure and can create a favorable backdrop for price appreciation, provided demand remains stable or strengthens. Interestingly, each notable inflow spike (sharp rise in reserves) has tended to coincide with or precede local price tops, reflecting profit-taking behavior and short-term liquidity inflows from holders preparing to sell. Conversely, outflow spikes such as the most recent and pronounced drop have often been followed by accumulation phases or bullish momentum, implying confidence among large holders or participants reducing exchange exposure. If demand for LINK’s oracle services or staking yield persists, this structural setup could act as a bullish foundation for mid- to long-term price resilience, though short-term volatility around liquidity shocks remains possible.
