BTC Supply in Profit Is Rising Again
Tracking the percentage of BTC supply in profit can be a key Indicator of market heat. Monitoring the percentage of Bitcoin’s supply currently in profit is a useful way to gauge whether the market is overheating. It’s important not to assume that a majority of the supply being in profit is negative, quite the opposite. Historically, when more investors are in profit, it often means the market is performing well, as holders tend to keep holding in anticipation of further gains. Typically, when the supply in profit reaches 85% to 90%, Bitcoin has continued to experience periods of expansion. Conversely, every major correction has been accompanied by a drop in the supply in profit, reflecting a phase of capitulation from late entrants who bought near local tops. During the latest corrections, a clear pattern has emerged. Once the supply in profit rises above 95%, the market tends to enter an overheated phase, triggering a correction. These corrections often find a bottom around the 75% threshold. More precisely we have got 73% on September 2024: 73%, 76% on April 2024 and recently 81%. Now, the percentage of supply in profit is slowly rising again, currently around 83.6%, a level that can be interpreted as encouraging, suggesting that investors are once again willing to hold their BTC while expecting further upside. This kind of behavior is healthy for rebuilding momentum, but it will be crucial to watch closely when the metric crosses back above 95%, as that historically marks overheated market conditions.
