Bitcoin Market Buy Volume Surpassing $25B Signals a Possible Inflection Point
While indicators such as Funding Rates, Leverage Ratio, and Open Interest are useful for identifying where we are in the derivatives market cycle, one of the most effective metrics for spotting signs just before a trend reversal is Market Buy Volume. As shown in the chart, whenever total Market Buy Volume reached $25 billion, it preceded a significant trend change — regardless of whether the prior move was bullish or bearish. Since the approval of the Bitcoin ETF, every time Market Buy Volume exceeded the $25B threshold, the market was not far from a key inflection point. Therefore, when Market Buy Volume hits $25B, it can be interpreted as a signal of extreme overheating. In a downtrend, this often marks a buying opportunity. In an uptrend, it tends to act as a selling opportunity. It’s recommended to use this metric in conjunction with other indicators, such as Funding Rates, to improve the accuracy of market assessments.
