Bitcoin derivatives open interest hits an all-time high, surpassing $14.3 billion on Binance
Bitcoin open interest on Binance the exchange with the highest Bitcoin trading volume has reached a record high of $14.369 billion, surpassing the previous record of $14.306 billion set in August. This sharp increase indicates that the scale of Bitcoin derivatives trading encompassing both long and short positions has reached a new peak, reflecting massive liquidity and strong commitment from both institutional and individual traders. Since late September, Bitcoin’s price has experienced a strong rebound from $108K to $122K. During this period, open interest rose from $11.5 billion to $14.369 billion, marking a significant increase within a record time frame. This direct correlation between the price rise and open interest suggests that the current momentum is being fueled by genuine inflows from new positions, rather than mere short-covering. The data reflects growing confidence and robust buying momentum, pushing the price toward new zones near $125K–$130K. However, caution is warranted regarding the possibility of a short-term technical correction if the price is not supported by strong trading volume in the coming days. With open interest reaching historic highs, the market has become highly sensitive to any sudden price correction. If the price declines while open interest remains elevated, it could trigger a cascade of liquidations.
