The share of new whales (STH) in the Bitcoin market
In the Bitcoin market, major players, commonly referred to as “whales,” remain key participants shaping both its long-term stability and short-term dynamics. Realized capitalization (Realized Cap) charts reveal the distribution between Old Whales (LTH >1,000 BTC) and New Whales (STH >1,000 BTC), providing deeper insight into their influence on the market. Recently, the growing role of new whales has drawn particular attention, with their share now reportedly reaching 60% of the total realized capitalization of large players. New Whales are market participants holding more than 1,000 BTC, but with coin age of less than 155 days. Unlike old whales, who stick to long-term strategies, new whales are more actively involved in trading and react more quickly to market changes. Their behavior often reflects the current phase of the market cycle: accumulation, growth, or profit-taking. At present, the chart show that the share of new whales is increasing significantly. Their active growth phase began when Bitcoin’s price reached $55,000. Currently, their share has increased by 43%, reaching 60% of the total realized capitalization of large players. This highlights their active entry into the market amid optimistic sentiments. This data analysis demonstrates that the share of new whales serves as an indicator of market sentiment among new major players. Their activity tends to rise during periods of optimism and becomes less prominent during phases of uncertainty.
