0x: Transaction Count (Mean)

Chart Description

Transaction Count (Mean) measures the average number of transactions included per block, providing a normalized view of network throughput that adjusts for variations in block production rate and isolates the density of on-chain activity packed into each block rather than raw transaction volume over time.

When mean transactions per block rise, blocks are being filled more densely - indicating that demand for on-chain settlement is high relative to available block space, which historically precedes fee market tightening as users compete to have transactions included in the next block. A declining mean suggests reduced on-chain demand or a shift toward more efficient transaction formats that allow more transfers to be batched within the same block space.

Unlike total transaction count, which fluctuates with block production rate, the per-block mean provides a cleaner signal of true network utilization at any given time - making it a more reliable indicator of block space pressure.
