Tokens Transferred (Median) measures the middle value of coins transferred per transaction within a given period, providing a more robust view of typical on-chain transfer size than the mean by eliminating the distorting effect of outlier transactions at either extreme of the distribution.
Because the median is resistant to large individual transfers that can significantly skew mean values, this metric more accurately reflects the behavior of the typical network participant rather than the aggregate. When the median rises, the majority of transactions are carrying more coins - indicating a broad-based shift toward larger transfer sizes across the network. When it remains flat or declines while the mean spikes, it confirms that rising average transfer size is being driven by a small number of outsized transactions rather than a genuine shift in typical participant behavior.
