Bitcoin: Exchange Inflow CDD

Chart Description

Exchange Inflow CDD applies the Coin Days Destroyed (CDD) framework specifically to BTC flowing into exchanges, weighting inflow transactions by the length of time the coins had been dormant before moving. A coin held for 100 days contributes 100 coin days when it moves - making this metric sensitive to the behavior of long-term holders rather than active traders cycling coins frequently.

When Exchange Inflow CDD is elevated, it indicates that older, longer-dormant coins are being moved onto exchanges - a historically significant bearish signal, as long-term holders entering exchanges are more likely to be distributing than repositioning. Because it filters out the noise of short-term traders and recently moved coins, this metric provides a cleaner read on whether conviction sellers are becoming active in the market.

Low values suggest exchange inflows are dominated by recently moved or actively traded coins, with long-term holders remaining largely inactive - generally a constructive signal for supply dynamics.
